Mission Statement
Bigfoot Books & Brews exists to offer a “third place” for the local downtown Marion, NC, and wider McDowell County and western North Carolina community to gather for conversation and excellent book and community events. We sell a quality, curated selection of used and some new books, as well as coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and baked goods.
I was born in Minnesota, but only lived there till I was three, from then on I grew up in Gastonia, NC. I would later fall in love with WNC through visiting family and briefly attending UNCA.
I graduated from UNCC in 2024 with my Bachelors in Communication Studies. I have worked various jobs throughout my life but I am excited to start a new adventure in being a small business owner.
I enjoy reading and cuddling with my two cats, Hoshi and Bean. I am a caffeine-addict; espresso, matcha, anything that wakes me up in the morning.

Hello, my name is Olyvia Knight!
I am one of the co-owners of Bigfoot Books & Brews.
I grew up in Minnesota, but moved to North Carolina in 2003 and to the mountains of western NC in 2019.
I’ve contributed to a few published books, but I have yet to write any of my own, which is still a goal of mine!
My dear friend and mentor Larry Bourgeois helped coin the phrase “third place,” which is what I’m excited to be helping to offer to the community here in Marion and McDowell County.
We hope you’ll come visit us here in western NC, as this area continues its historic recovery from Hurricane Helene and begins writing its next chapter.
Who knows, you might just see Bigfoot! :-)
