Join us for a screening of Matewan (1987) on the anniversary of The Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest labor uprising in U.S. history, where armed miners — Black, white, and immigrant — fought the bosses, the National Guard, and the President himself for wages, benefits, and the right to organize.
Matewan dramatizes the events of the Battle of Matewan, a coal miners’ strike in 1920 that later led to the Battle of Blair Mountain.
