National Book Month starts today

Can you believe it’s October already? Just three months left to go in 2025. It is definitely feeling more like Fall, and today marks both International Coffee Day AND the start of National Book Month. We’ve got what you need for both of those things, so come see us!

Tomorrow night (Thursday 10/2) we are excited to be hosting “Ghosts of a Revolution: Honoring the Marrion Million Massacre Anniversary,” featuring Chelsea White-Hoglen from the Rednecks Rising Podcast and special guests. There will be activities for ALL AGES.

The Marion Mill Massacre is one of the most significant events in Labor Movement history in the United States—and it happened right here in this town! Please join us for this very special event at 7pm.

We’re confirming more events for the rest of the year, so keep an eye on our website and social media for those announcements. One that’s coming up on Friday, October 24 is the McDowell County Halloween Pizza & Dance Party. It’s totally free, and we’ll be there giving out free hot chocolate AND free children’s books! If you have well-loved children’s books that you’d like to donate for us to give away on October 24, please bring them by the shop sometime between now and then. We’d appreciate it!
