Philosophy creates a shared ethics and language for identifying our problems and discovering real solutions. Philosophy encourages and enforces humility, honesty, clarity, and independent thought.
Hosted by Jacob Blair, Philosophy Club invites the community to have conversations contextualizing complex ideas through the lens of philosophical teachings from all eras of history.
This meetings topic is Hope: Can we even have Hope? Where and How do we find Hope? Is Hope even good thing to have?
A few rules for Philosophy Club:
Do not discuss current events or living politicians. This is not the space for that.
During in person meetings, please leave your phone at home or in your car.
Practice Good Faith Discussion. Assume the other person has the best interests and try to steelman their argument against yours.
Lastly, but most important, please be respectful of each other. We all have areas of expertise just as much as we have profound blind-spots.
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday afternoon!
